Weekly Twitter Mailbag: Walk-Ons Fade Away

In this week’s Twitter mailbag, we discuss the season, future games, Jeremy Langford and John Jakubik.

Has the season been disappointing or has it been disappointing? (@MavsRaccoon)

Um. Disappointing. Next question.

How about where the fudge has Jeremy Langford been? And what ever happened to the walk on (jakubik?) Everyone was talking up? (@JRGrizz)

Langford isn’t getting as much playing time as people thought, mostly because, for one, Le’Veon Bell’s been so dominant this season that putting any other back in is a huge loss to the MSU offense. Caper, Hill AND Langford (who only has 2 carries for 9 yards this year) haven’t been getting as much time as we once thought.

John Jakubik was making an impression in the spring, but he may have been overhyped. After all, he didn’t even get 300 receiving yards in 2010 with Kalamazoo College so he probably won’t make an impact. Plus, there are other receivers MSU really needs to get playing time anyways so Jakubik will be on the backburner.

How do you feel about MSU being 3.5-pt chalk at Wisconsin and 4.5-pt chalk vs Nebraska? With MSU’s issues on O, should they be favored? (@justcoverblog)

MSU being a 3.5-point favorite over Wisconsin is reasonable, since they look all around bad this year. It may be close, but that seems reasonable. On the other hand, being favored by 4.5 against Nebraska seems a bit far fetched, as the Husker defense will probably shut down the Spartans on offense. MSU could give up 13 points to Nebraska and still lose.
